Brittany Degirolamo: CEO & Founder of Phocus Creative Group

The art of storytelling goes back to the beginning of human existence.  We share, embrace, and remember stories over time.  Brittany Degirolamo CEO & Founder of Phocus Creative Group dedicates her time sharing the stories of entrepreneurs who want to impact and create positive opportunities for the community. Modern storytelling has evolved digitally across social media channels.  Brittany is here to bring back the personal touch of traditional story telling with social marketing with the  power of content.

How did you fall upon your career and makes you love what you do?

I've always been creative as a child it started out with painting when I was 6 years old and then fashion design and then to writing and an interest in photography which perfectly placed me into the world of marketing. Supporting lifestyles and brands using the power of the written word + killer creative visuals. I've gravitated most recently to brand strategy and leading influencer activations. (Online & Experiential)

What are you currently most excited about?

Currently, I'm working on a few amazing projects internationally including a music festival in Morocco and a sustainability/influencer campaign in Puerto Rico with all proceeds from the campaign going back to the Yunque Rainforest and supporting that ecosystem.

What would you tell yourself when you were younger and/or what advice would you give other women?

Don't ever listen to anyone who tells you not to or that you can't/shouldn't. Always trust your intuition, always....and never stop reading, no matter how busy you get.

Where do you get your inspiration?

New people I meet / Places I go. I love a spontaneous night out with art, music and friends. I try to do new things often that push me or possibly make me uncomfortable. I'm trying an escape room for the first time soon!!

Is there something you were self-conscious about when you were younger and have learned to embrace now?

I was definitely self conscious as a teenager about having a more pear-shaped body, and now I love it. I think also seeing the fashion world start accepting women of different body types and using them in major fashion advertisements and editorials has really changed girls perceptions of body image for the better. It's really nice to see and I'm a proud supporter, I think its brought girls together.

What do you love about lingerie/ or how does lingerie make you feel and do you have any tips about lingerie.

I just recently got very into lingerie in my mid twenties and I think it has a lot to do with me growing up and really feeling comfortable in my own skin as a woman. I'm almost always wearing a matching set or bodysuit.  I'm definitely coming into my own style and buying things I know I will love for years as opposed to something thats just a fad or trendy item. Lingerie has become one of the staple items in my wardrobe and something I've started to invest in.

Do you have a favorite hangout spot in NYC at the moment?

One of my friends just opened a spot on Bowery & Broome, Esther & Carol, the basement is pretty dope with a full on music studio, backed up by Gibson Guitars and RCA speakers - this space & the gentlemen running it are dedicated to bringing that special edge back to NYC nightlife supporting live music, which I love listening {and dancing} to!
